ITE Talks Transportation: Lauren Blackburn on Health and Transportation

Lauren Blackburn, AICP, brings her perspective to the health and transportation discussion based upon her more than 14 years of experience in multimodal and long-range planning, with key areas of interest in bicycle and pedestrian transportation, comprehensive planning, roadway safety, and community health. In the episode, she discusses how Vision Zero can be a conduit for the relationship between the health and transportation industries, and how steps like sharing a common vocabulary can help transportation and health professionals start working together on common goals. Lauren oversaw the development of Watch for Me NC, a statewide bicycle and pedestrian safety program for the North Carolina Department of Transportation, and managed the state’s first comprehensive pedestrian and bicycle plan – Walk Bike NC. Lauren is currently based in VHB‘s Raleigh, NC office where she is a senior project manager.
